The Bible teaches that there are twelve gates into the City, metaphorically meaning that there are many paths back home to God. Drawing strongly from both Eastern and Western religious and spiritual traditions, this series offers some of the many perspectives on how to approach enlightenment.
Enter the 2nd Gate into the City through Bible study and a deeper understanding of the scriptures,
especially the quotes (the red letter texts) from Jesus Christ.

Red Letter Texts
In the King James Version of the Bible, the words in red are the quotes attributed to Jesus. This version of the Bible was first published in 1901. Now other versions of the Bible will commonly use red to refer to the words of Jesus, instead of quotation marks.
1) Jesus – “Blessed Are the Pure in Heart”
Elizabeth Clare Prophet, founder and messenger of The Summit Lighthouse®, offers interpretations of Biblical texts* that deepen and broaden understanding, offering practical strategies for increasing spiritual closeness to the Creator.
For example, from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says in Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
How do you develop a pure heart? Mrs. Prophet offers several keys. First purity of heart refers to the Light of God this is given to each of us daily. What we do with that light determines whether it remains pure and is used for good or if we mis-qualify that Light and cause the colors of the heart and other chakras to become muddied or dull. This happens when we hurt another, talk negatively, and experience or vent emotions that drain our energies, like gossip, anger and depression. Light is energy and the vibration that we put on the Light may or may not be pure.
Second, a pure heart lives by purity of desire, purity of motive, purity of speech and purity of conduct. This purity is reflected in Jesus’ great commandments from Matt 22:37-39 to, “Love Thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind and the second, to Love thy neighbor as thyself.” When these guide our lives and color what we do, we are developing a pure heart.
Third, the pure in heart shall see God by seeing His Light. This is God’s greatest gift to us. As we choose to increase God’s light given to us each day, pure Light will fill our chakras** and aura. Our bodies become temples of God as they fill with Light. Increasing the Light within will enable us to see that Light in others, also.
When greater joy, happiness, clarity and harmony are needed in your life, shout the fiat,
Let there be Light,
Let there be LIGHT,
LET THERE BE LIGHT!

2) Jesus – “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also.”
The full red letter text from John 14:12 is: “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father.”
The Ascended Masters teach that Jesus was a ‘wayshower,’ one who came to demonstrate for us the path of the Christ. He embodied to set the example of how all of us can achieve our own ascension in the Light.
In many other religions, it is believed that Jesus was the only Son of God. Elizabeth Clare Prophet addresses this belief and the meaning of Jesus’ words below (1).
“To me the promise is unmistakable, and yet it is considered blasphemy for anyone on earth today to make himself equal with Christ, let alone greater than Christ.
It is my understanding that Jesus came to set the example for the incarnation of the Word. I believe that if we accept him as the Word, he releases and ignites the flame within us and we individually experience the Second Coming. We are born again—because he is one with the Father and because we now experience that same Word, that same anointing that he knew. As we walk with him hand in hand, the fire of our heart, the fire of his heart, can work his works. And by his grace and only by his grace, we together can do those greater things…
I don’t think that we should consider that the age of miracles is past but that the age of miracles is fulfilled in science. We should consider that Jesus was the greatest nuclear physicist, the greatest alchemist that we have known in our recorded history. He mastered all energies, all flow of life forces. He mastered time and space. He ascended into that white cloud, the white-fire core of the atom of his own Self.
Hence, we call him an Ascended Master and we call all who have done the same Ascended Masters; for many sons and daughters have proved that oneness with God and mastered time and space, both before and after the advent of Jesus.”
She continues (2):
Jesus came as the great Guru, the great Master, the incarnation of the Word. We call him the avatar of the age, the one who was the fullness of God incarnate and who exemplified the person of the Son, although he was the fullness of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We speak of the Christ as the only begotten Son of God. There is a bit of confusion concerning this only begotten Son because we have confused the eternal nature of the Christ with the singular Son Jesus. Jesus the Christ gives us the understanding of Jesus the Son. Jesus became the fullness of the Christ and therefore, in the order of hierarchy, earned the title of “Son.” He set this example for all of us to follow.”
3) Affirmations
To assist us to do the works that Jesus did, and to embody the Christ, and to accelerate our oneness with the Father — below are powerful mantras (affirmations) and decrees (spoken prayers) that can be used on a daily basis. (In the mantras below I AM means the ‘God within me’):
Affirmations Taken from “To the New Jerusalem” by Jesus the Christ (December 28, 1975)

Shining in the darkness of being
And changing all into the golden treasury

Out into the world
To erase all errors
And to break down all barriers.

Amplifying itself
Until it is victorious,
